The tufted fabric lamination project for the luggage-compartment parcel shelf of the DENZA Z9GT, in which Relanet New Materials (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. participated, has entered series production. The project, code-named HTE, uses R-5670 adhesive with R-60C hardener to bond the tufted fabric on the parcel shelf.

The luggage-compartment parcel shelf is part of the vehicle interior. For this type of component, tufted fabric lamination needs to balance surface conformity with bond stability after lamination. Adhesive suitability must be assessed against the specific materials, component structure and processing method. Material selection also requires validation in the project application.

Validation of the HTE project took one year. During that period, the project referred to “Test methods for passenger-car interior and exterior products — Part 4: Test methods for temperature resistance and weathering performance,” assessed the bonding solution against the project's technical requirements, and passed the cyclic tests carried out. The evaluation focused on the actual application requirements of this model and component. The year of validation provided a basis for using R-5670 with R-60C in this project, which subsequently entered series production.

The start of series production for HTE marks a milestone in RELANET's work on tufted fabric lamination for automotive interiors. From matching the materials to completing a year of validation, the project has added practical experience for similar component applications. The DENZA Z9GT luggage-compartment parcel shelf is now a specific series-production application of the R-5670 and R-60C combination.
